Nephrolith/Xullux/Haliaetum Records/2011 Cd Review

Nephrolith are a band from Slovenia that plays a very dark spiritual katharic form of black metal with a melodic edge and this is a review of their 2011 album "Xullux" which was released by Haliaetum Records.

Drums range from slow, mid paced o fast drumming, while the synths are only used on the first intro and have a very dark avant garde ritualistic noise feel to them, as for the bass playing it sounds very strong and powerful with riffs that are very easy to hear at times.

Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast black metal riffing that is very dark and melodic sounding with some progressive riffing being used at times, while the lead guitars are very melodic and progressive sounding black metal guitar leads, as for the classical guitars they sound very dark and haunting when they are utilized.

Vocals are all high pitched black metal screams with some deep growls being used at times, while the lyrics cover death, darkness, dark spirituality and the occult, as for the production it has a very strong and powerful feel to it and you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording.

In my opinion Nephrolith are a very good black metal band that is more dark and experimental than most melodic black metal bands, and if you are looking for something that is somewhat different but still kick ass metal, you should check out this band.
RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Spiritual Departure' "Xullux" "The Tale Of The ConqueringDusk'and "Subsintence Of Decease". RECOMMENDED  BUY.
