Wendness/Self Titled/Baneful Benediction/2009 Demo Review

Wendness are a band from Quebec, Canada that plays a very folk music inspired form of atmospheric post black metal and this is a review of their self titled 2009 demo which was released by Baneful Benediction.

Drums range from slow to mid paced drumming with some fast playing but not much in the way of blast beats, while the bass guitar has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars.

Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast post black metal riffs that are primitive in their own way with some log and epic songs that have a Cascadian feeling to them without being from the Pacific Northwest while the lead guitars which are only utilized briefly have a very meldoic sound to them, as for the acoustic guitars they use finger picking and full chords to being the folk music feeling to the music.

Vocals are all high pitched black metal screams, while the lyrics are written in French which cover misanthropic themes, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it.

In my opinion Wendness are a very great sounding folk inspired atmospheric post black metal band and if you are a fan of this style, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Cali" and "Printemps de Haine". RECOMMENDED BUY.
