Ancient Spheres Interview

1.Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?
Hi, thank you for this interview, sure, we recently come back to our country (Costa Rica) after some dates in Mexico. After the release of “In Conspiracy with the Night” album in August 20th 2015, we started the tour called “In Conspiracy with the Tour 2015” in October 4th in San Jose Costa Rica and Mexico. Was a long tour through Mexico with the Norwegians Gehenna. For now, we are preparing for next tour dates.

2.In August you had released a new album, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording and also how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?
The sound is a classic style, as the previous recordings, there is not  several guitars playing harmonies or a lot of studio “make up”, is a natural and pure sound, this is the same sound expected in a live presentation. This sound differs to previous production in the quality due the evolution of the process of recording made by ourselves. About the length of the songs, across the time we found that 5min is enough time to enjoy playing and for listen in a show, so the new songs are in that range.

3.The song lyrics and the band name come from the ancient tribes of Costa Rica, can you tell us a little bit more about these tribes and while the Aztecs, Incans and Mayans get a lot of coverage, history books usually do not cover much about these other South American tribes, what do you think is the cause of this?
Aztecs, Incans and Mayans were the biggest tribes but there are a lot of small tribes living today, maybe they survived hidden. In case of our country, the most of the old tribes were murdered and conquered by the Spaniards around year 1500 A.C. Their treasures were stolen by killers, their cults were replaced by the corrupt Christendom, but something of those old legends survived.

4.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?
Ancient sphereS has only 2 years in gigs, but we can say about backline and general equipment some of the best were in Mexico and Central America, but we always remember Honduras and El Salvador as the biggest concerts.

5.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?
Yes we do, we are negotiating more dates but we will announce soon. Stay tuned for news.

6.The new album was released on both Satanath Records and More Hate Productions, while I know about the first label mentioned can you tell us a little bit more about the other one?
About More Hate, they were interested in work with Satanath and make a co-release. It is a Russian label too. Both of them, will distribute the new album trough the world.

7.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black metal?
Said by Norwegians “sounds like old Norwegian bands”, the response in the live shows is really good, people get crazy and want more maybe by the energy displayed, fast songs, some melodic riffs and blast beats. A blackmetal discharge in songs of 5 minutes instead bored songs of 10 minutes.

8.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that some of the band members are a part of?
Sometimes these projects get stacked in time, we have normal jobs so we need to prioritize our time. Sometimes doesn't walk at the desired speed.

9.Are there any other metal bands that you would recommend from your home country of Costa Rica?
Yes, We can recommend a lot of bands, Costa Rica has a large variety of metal music but only to mention a few of them is not good for the rest of the bands.

10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
We see a band representing a true costarican blackmetal, recognized by its own and original style, its lyrics under a costarrican context, we live in Costa Rica, there are cold winds but there is not snow, the christianity and all its context is not ours, it was imported from Europe, we want to eradicate them and back to our roots.

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your newer music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
Our influence is in the old bands, death, black, doom and some neoclassical, there was a time when the music was not complex but with a lot of feeling and sense.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
We want to thank you for your interest, and thank you to all the people that support us around the world, the spheres are rolling far and we don’t know how far. These 2 years of activity has been full of good experiences and the best is coming.
