Daat Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

Band named Daat. It's symbolised knowledge, hidden from most, like eleventh Sephirot that was the Black sun , highest one, on the Tree of life binding others.
Band lyrics highly influenced by occult literature as well as other mystical stuff.
Through our music and lyrics we manifest path on the way of rebellion,  enlightenment and glory.

2.In October you had released an ep, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording?

It is Black metal, which comprises both dissonance chords and melodic line mostly as well known like Sweden branch. On Ep we can also find instrumental intro and outro that makes picture the whole. Music goes wave-like, once it has average tempo, then it grows into blast beat, then we can find a solo part. Music has a spirit of early-years black metal and a onslaught of nowadays.

3.Your lyrics deal a lot with Anti Cosmic Luciferianism and the Occult literature of Ixaxaar, and the bands name also comes from the Sitra Ahra, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in the dark arts and left hand path?

I always know that there is something else, that could not be perceived by a ordinary person, but that can be reveal and feeling. Thats why there are all orthodox, cults and currents. They know existence of other side, most of them are followers of Demiurg, that has been in different forms and they chose theirs mental death to have encompassing benefits now. Different religious and believes has different names, but in whole it is based on one Genesis, on that fact, that universe was ordered by Demiurg and his emanations. Before it wasn't form, birth and death. All was in chaothic movement and everything can be nothing and nothing -everything. For this usurper other non-existent side goes like danger for their creation. For us this existence goes like set of rules that we have to obey. For me Left hand path and philosophy of destroying obsolete through creation new is my informed choice. Its like searching a pearl on the bottom of the deepest ocean. Its is the hardest way, but it charms. Remuneration waiting at the end of his way, a man should be a way in development and struggle, like Milton's Satan, this way we start here. On this way we need knowledges that hidden, wisdom and philosophy that called occult. Wonderful and frightently at same time to be close to understanding this being, on the way of becoming a God.

4.While the band is into the darker side of the occult, have you ever been exposed to the more mainstream or well known side such as Crowley, Golden Dawn or other works of that nature, and if so what are your thoughts on the other systems?

Honesty I trying to read much literature that is possible where can find information that can be used and compare with others. But unfortunately its very hard to find original, non-distorted systems, most of them were republished and fixed lots of times, so finally becomes just literary garbage with touch of mysticism. Also many of people was scared of theirs lifes writing truth, thats why they masked facts and events with symbols. For examples if we talked about more well known, I have read hermetic works of Paracelsus, Helena Blavatsky, some works of Crowley, ancient philosophers and I want to say just only intuition and path of comparison and contrast of details and events can lead to understanding a truth. Idea is the same, angles of view are different. While you on a darker side, you do all by yourself, (if you appealed to dark essences, you should give them smth.back), if not, you are hoping for God.

05.The band is also into the works of H.P Lovecraft, do you feel this author was a lot more into the dark arts than what he told the public?

I think yes, he was. As we know there were a big number of long gaps in his biography and nobody knows what he was doing at this time. We know him just because of his correspondence with others not numerouse writers and magazines. Most of his stories based on real places that he lived in. Interesting that most of his main characters very closed to him. There are also young mans, intelligent, closed to rest of the world and hate stupidity, bad tastes as well as humanity vices. Lovecraft knows that our existence and all people being it just temporary event without any sense. He praised powers and gods, darkest and cold living in depths, which deeper deepest Abyss and much older than we can just imagine. He wrote Necronomicon which can be considered with Goetia. Some of his Goods or events were named almost as spirits or Goods we know. For example he has Azathoth, Lovecraft  describes him: "Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes." He can be compared with bloodlusty Astaroth. And there are also lots of such examples we can find in his stories. Also we can find event of Chaos which can destroy our universe with all life on it just in seconds.
Lovecraft write about things in future too,  like in his "Mountain of Madness", or in movie "The Thing" which was influenced by his stories, tell about evil of uknown that lives in eternal ice and can be awaking by negligence. As we know nowadays Russia has local land-use plan of eternal ices.

06.So far the band has only been a studio project but are you planning on doing live shows in the future or just remain a studio project?

In plans making splits with bands closed ideologically to us, making gigs, making full-length album, making videos and other stuffs that bands make like making merch, making interviews and photo sessions and extending influence.

07.Currently the band is signed to heretic Rex, can you tell us a little bit more about this label?

When I fished mastering album I put it in internet through social networks. Feedback was great. So it is better to say that other countries were first who know my work, Russia was the last, it because that I guided by quality in what I do, thats why it was very important to know their opinions. They said that it is sounds as should sound and they feel energy that it brings. Some of them were interesting with lyrics, they asked about full-length album, would it be close to this Ep, where Daat planned to start playing, would we play in theirs countries and when "There Are None So Blind As Those That Will Not See" comes on CD.
Now Ep available on CD, you can buy it through label or through Daat facebook page. I have all members of a band, and lots friends from Finland. Mostly cities that know Daat are Helsinki and Kuopio.

09.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that the drummer is a part of?

Some of that bands are dead now, another going without him, he played sessions at studio there. I know exactly that Pyre is active and today as well as his new heavy metal band Blazing Rust.

10.When can we expect a full length album and also where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

Full-length album will comes this year. Waiting for black magic art.

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
